Livelihood and Resilience Building

CeRID -

CeRID is dedicated to promoting livelihood and resilience building, particularly in the context of climate change and its impact on communities. The organization focuses on the following initiatives:

  1. Climate-Smart Agriculture Practices: CeRID advocates for and promotes climate-smart agriculture practices. These practices involve sustainable farming techniques that optimize resource use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance agricultural productivity and resilience. By encouraging the adoption of climate-smart agriculture, CeRID aims to mitigate the negative effects of climate change on food production and enhance the livelihoods of farming communities.

  2. Climate Change Adaptation: CeRID actively supports climate change adaptation efforts. The organization works closely with communities to identify and implement adaptation strategies that reduce vulnerability to climate-related risks. This includes developing and disseminating climate-resilient farming practices, promoting water resource management, and supporting the adoption of climate-resilient livelihood systems.

  3. Sustainable Livelihood Systems: CeRID seeks to build sustainable livelihood systems that are resilient to climate change impacts. This involves implementing medium to long-term programs that address key components of livelihoods, such as agriculture, income generation, natural resource management, and market access. By promoting sustainable livelihood systems, CeRID aims to improve food security, reduce poverty, and enhance the overall resilience of communities.

  4. Agriculture Value Chain: CeRID focuses on the introduction and development of agriculture value chains. By establishing and strengthening value chains, CeRID aims to reduce food insecurity and enhance resilience building in the Horn of Africa. This involves supporting the entire process of agricultural production, processing, marketing, and distribution, ultimately creating opportunities for small-scale farmers and enhancing their participation in the market.

CeRID's efforts in livelihood and resilience building aim to empower communities to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change, enhance food security, and build sustainable livelihood systems that can withstand future uncertainties. By combining climate-smart practices, adaptation strategies, and the development of agriculture value chains, CeRID strives to create long-lasting positive impacts on the lives and well-being of communities in the Horn of Africa.
